Silbaugh Case Moving to Federal Court

The Hannah Silbaugh case may be moving to federal court.

Silbaugh is the 21 year old Erie woman who says she was kicked by an Erie police officer during the May 30th downtown riots.

A petition has been filed by lawyers for the city of Erie to transfer the case from Commonwealth Court to U.S. Federal District Court.

Civil rights case of Hannah Silbaugh, the 21-year-old protester kicked by an Erie police officer during the May 30th riot in downtown Erie, may be heading to federal court.

City Solicitor Ed Betza says the case should be tried in fedral court because it involves claims that police violated Silbaugh's civil and Constitutional rights.

The next step would be having a federal judge assigned to the case.
