Mayor Schember announced Thursday that the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development will be providing a $3 million grant to eliminate lead in city of Erie households.
The grant will go toward lead mitigation efforts in an additional 190 units in the City of Erie.
More than 80% of houses in the City of Erie that were built before 1978 are affected by led paint.
If you live in a house built before 1978 you’re advised to contact the Erie redevelopment authority.
