Erie Zoo Worker Bitten by Orangutan

A worker at the Erie Zoo is recovering after being bitten by an Orangutan.

It happened Saturday afternoon. the zookeeper was reportedly feeding the orangutan when the animal reached out and grabbed him. the zookeeper was bitten on the arm.

Erie Zoo President Scott Mitchell says the orangutan, a female, is not aggressive, and has never previously shown this kind of behavior.

The zookeeper was taken to Saint Vincent hospital with what were described as moderate injuries
