Community College Vote

The Pennsylvania Board of Education is expected to vote today on Erie County’s application for a Community College.

The County wants to establish the 15th Community College under the state system. the county plans to use revenue from casino gaming to fund its local match for at least the first decade.

State Senate President Joseph Scarnati and the northwest Pennsytlvania regional college oppose the idea, saying The NPRC already offers similar courses and workforce development programs, and that the NPRC doesn’t cost taxpayers anything.

Erie County first submitted its application three years ago.
