The Pennsylvania Board of Education Thursday approved Erie County's application for a Community College.
The board voted 9-6 in favor of the measure following a two-day virtual hearing.
Next a final vote will be held with the board of education, then a board of trustees will be established that will make all future decisions about the Erie County Community College.
Those decisions include determining a physical location for the school, finalizing the curricula, hiring staff and more.
Erie County’s Community College application was first submitted in 2016.
