Erie City Council last night approved funding for the Erie police department's body camera program.
Council approved just under $250,000 for the program. Every uniformed officer will have a body camera, and some police cruisers will have dash cameras installed.
The body camera program will begin with a trial period, which is expected to last several months.
Also at last night’s meeting, a large number of citizens spoke out on the issues of police misconduct and the need for a proposed citizens review board.
