The Erie Police Department’s chief traffic investigator has been terminated after he sent an email containing racist and inappropriate comments to the Mayor and several reporters.
At a news conference last night, Mayor Joe Schember announced at Sgt. Jeff Annunziata has been terminated following an investigation.
The email in question was sent using a City of Erie email account. Annunziata was not on duty at the time the message was sent.
Erie Police Chief Dan Spizarny said ““The City of Erie Police cannot and will not allow taxpayer money to be used to spread hatred and ambiguity”, and stressed that Annunziata’s views are not reflective of the Erie Police Department.
