The Erie School Board has passed a 2020-2021 budget, and it does not include a tax increase.
At a special session on Tuesday afternoon, board members took a close look at the $1 million the district spends on its police force. those discussions included a proposal to defund the district’s police force. that motion failed by a 7-2 vote.
The district police force consists of five full-time and 12 part-time officers.
The district had to pass the budget package tuesday so the $210 million spending plan could go into effect today, as required by state law.
