Erie Man Charged for Shooting Fireworks at EPD Officers

An Erie man is facing charges for allegedly lighting and shooting fireworks at Erie police officers during the May 30th downtown riots.

Charges against 46 year old Juan Aviles include aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person, riot with intent to commit felony, as well as propulsion of missiles onto roadways.

Aviles is currently in the Erie County Prison with bond set at $25,000.

He is scheduled to appear before District Judge Sue Mack for a preliminary hearing August 3rd.
