At Erie County Council’s finance committee meeting Thursday, Erie County Executive Kathy Dahlkemper’s office presented a resolution that would declare racism as a public health crisis.
Part of the resolution states “Erie County Council and the Erie County executive intend to take immediate action to address…obvious and crippling inequities, which are at the root of health disparities in our community”.
Dozens of cities and states across the country have passed similar measures naming racism a public health crisis.
County Councilman Andre Horton has been working with Dahlkemper’s administration on the resolution.
