City Council Members Weigh In on Verbal Harassment by Retired Officer

Erie City Council members are weighing in on a case of alleged verbal harassment involving an employee at the whole foods co-op and a retired Erie police officer.

Leanna Nieratko says she received a threatening phone call from a retired officer on September 2nd. the officer allegedly told Nieratko that she should be raped and murdered for her support of the black lives matter movement.

The Erie Bureau of Police has denied city council’s request to view Nieratko’s written complaint.

but Erie City Councilman Ed Breziznski says councilmembers should not act until the investigation is complete

City Councilman Michael keys, meanwhile, says the case shows why a citizens review board is needed.
