Atlanta Woman Arrested for Stealing Checks in Erie Headed to Jail

An atlanta woman, who was arrested in erie, is headed to prison for stealing checks and using the identification of homeless people to cash them.

Authorities say 31 year old Jasmine Carter, along with a co-defendant, stole checks from the mail and used homeless people with valid identification to cash them in the nationwide scheme.

Investigators say Carter and the co-defendant would remove the legitimate name from the checks and replaced them with the homeless persons’ name.

Carter was sentenced to three and a half years in jail on charges including conspiracy to commit wire and bank fraud.
