Body cameras have come to the Erie Police Department.
As of Thursday, all of the department’s patrol officers are wearing the cameras. members of the Motorcycle Unit, Neighborhood Action Team, Quebec Unit and saturation patrols are also equipped with the cameras.
Last July, Erie City Council members signed off on a five-year contract totaling nearly $1 million with Axon Enterprises to provide cameras for roughly 140 patrol officers and to place 12 cameras in police vehicles.
