State Representative Bob Merski, D-Erie, is alerting residents that the deadline to apply for rent or mortgage relief under the COVID Relief-Mortgage and Rental Assistance Grant Program has been extended until November 4th.
Renters who qualify can receive up to $750 a month for a maximum of six months’ assistance for the period between March 1 and December 31st, and homeowners can receive up to $1,000 a month for the same period.
Payments are made directly to the landlord or mortgagee.
Merski said the governor issued an emergency order extending the original Sept. 30 deadline to give residents more time to apply.
