When it comes to what to wear to bed, some people prefer a full set of pajamas, others opt for a t-shirt and boxers, some like just underwear, and then there are the folks who choose to sleep without any clothes at all. However, it turns out that there is a hidden danger in spending the night nude, and a doctor on TikTok is shedding light on the concern.
Anthony Youn, MD, a Detroit-based plastic surgeon, explained in his video that the average person farts "15-25 times a day" and many of those farts happen during sleep. The problem, according to Dr. Anthony, is that a scientific study has shown that tiny bits of poop get sprayed when you fart. He added, "So for the sake of your bed partner, please sleep with your underwear on."
Youn went on to suggest viewers "change your underpants every day, wash your sheets regularly, and never fart in someone's face."
The doctor did make an exception though, stating, "For women, if your gynecologist tells you to sleep without underwear then listen to them."
And for those of you who think you should just hold your farts in, another doctor on TikTok warned against doing that. Dr. Karan Rajan revealed, "If you hold in a fart too long, it can be reabsorbed into your bloodstream and breathed out when you exhale." Yikes.
