U.S. Troops Halfway Withdrawn From Afghanistan

The Pentagon says about half of U.S. troops and military equipment in Afghanistan have been withdrawn.

Close to 3000 U.S. service members will leave the country by the 20th anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attacks.

Officials say roughly 500 loads of material have been flown out as well.

Central Commander Frank McKenzie says the U.S. is in negotiations to create bases for counterterrorism operations after troops are withdrawn.
