Mitch McConnell is facing some competition for his spot as the Senate's top Republican.
Florida Sen. Rick Scott told GOP colleagues on Tuesday that he'll run against McConnell as Republican Senate Leader.
Scott, the chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee, has frequently butted heads with McConnell over the direction of the party.
Senate Republicans will hold their leadership elections on Wednesday.
McConnell has served as Senate Republican Leader since 2007, and would become the longest-serving party leader in Senate history if re-elected.
